Instructions

      Access the drain piping beneath the sink, then disconnect the P-trap section of the drain by turning the end nuts counterclockwise using a pipe wrench. Place a small bucket beneath the P-trap before removal to catch any water remaining in the drain line.

      Pull the the P-trap downward to dislodge the down drain from it, then pull the P-trap section horizontally to extract it from the wall drain line.

      Loosen and remove the compression nut at the top of the down drain just below the sink drain, then remove the down drain section.

      Loosen the large serrated retainer nut of the drain assembly using a pipe wrench. Turn the nut counterclockwise slowly to release it, then pull the drain’s sink flange and stopper assembly upward to remove it from the sink.

Tips & Warnings

  • Removing the sink drain is easier if it is secured from the top while being loosened from below; enlist the assistance of a helper, if possible.
