How do I Clean an Electric Range Burner?
With everyday use, electric range burners are subjected to food spills, grease splatters and crumbs. Burning food residue can make your home smell smoky and may even cause small fires. Sometimes the food residue will make its way down to the drip pan, causing an unpleasant odor every time you heat the burner. Clean your electric range burner after every food spill to prevent smoke and flareups. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Turn off the electric range burner, and allow it to cool completely.
-
2
Remove the burner and drip pan from your electric range. Place the drip pan in the sink.
-
-
3
Dampen a sponge with warm water, and wring it out. Wipe the burner with the sponge to remove any food residue.
-
4
Wash the drip pan with the sponge and a drop or two of dish soap. If the drip pan is covered in burned-on residue, allow it to soak in hot, soapy water for 15 minutes before scrubbing it clean.
-
5
Rinse the drip pan and dry it with a towel. Place the drip pan back on the electric range, followed by the burner.
-
6
Open any windows or doors, and turn on the exhaust fan if you have one.
-
7
Heat the burner on high, and allow the coil to turn red. Smoke will result as any leftover food residue burns away. When the burner stops smoking, turn off the range and allow the burner to cool.
-
8
Wipe away any ashes with a slightly damp sponge.
