How Do I Clean Shower Stall Door Tracks?

Cleaning the track on a shower door takes some time and effort.

Shower doors are a convenient alternative to curtains and they can be more aesthetically pleasing. Shower curtains tend to acquire significant mold buildup at the bottom without frequent cleaning, and shower doors do not require as much maintenance. However, that is not to say that shower doors do not get dirty. The door and the track are susceptible to mold, dirt and water spots. The track needs extra attention because debris can get trapped in it over time.

Things You'll Need

• 2 towels
• Wet rag
• White vinegar
• Brush
• Lime remover
• Cotton swabs
• General bathroom cleaner

Instructions

1. Lay towels down on both sides of the track to catch any moisture as you clean the track. This prevents the floor from getting wet and becoming a slip hazard.

2. Wipe down the track with a warm, wet rag to remove any loose dust and debris.

3. Pour white vinegar into the track and scrub any deposits with a brush. Pour some warm water into the track to flush out the vinegar.

4. Spray any stubborn stains with a lime-removing cleaner and scrub with the brush.

5. Dip cotton swabs in bathroom cleaner and wipe them into the corners of the track to eliminate remaining dirt or deposits.

Tips & Warnings

• Clean the track weekly to prevent deposits from hardening. This makes the track easier to clean than doing it only once in a while.
