Paper snowflake

Making paper snowflakes with the kids is a fun, easy and timeless way to spruce up your home for the holidays, yet the question of how to make them stick nicely to the windows remains. Because of the way the paper needs to be folded to create them, the shapes of paper snowflakes end up somewhat awkward. Fortunately there are a number of solutions to this sticky problem.

Step 1

Press your snowflakes between the pages of heavy books or place them on a flat surface and put a heavy book on top of them over night. This will get rid of the creases so that your snowflakes will lay flat on the window.

Step 2

Lay wax paper or a plastic storage bag on a flat surface. Apply a generous amount of white craft glue to the back of the snowflake and press it onto the wax paper or plastic storage bag. Check your glue bottle to see how long the glue will take to dry and wait at least that long.

Step 3

Remove the snowflake from the plastic or wax paper and make sure it's dry. Stick it to your window, glue side toward the window, and press firmly.

If you prefer not to use glue or if this method doesn't work for you, go to Step 4.

Step 4

Place the snowflake on your window and apply a small piece of clear adhesive tape to the top, bottom, and sides of the snowflake. Press firmly to stick. Alternatively, put a small piece of double-sided tape in the center of your snowflake. Put additional pieces of double-sided tape on each edge and press tightly against the window.

Step 5

Put each snowflake on the hook of a suction cup if you want to try yet another method. Thoroughly clean the window and the suction cup, apply a couple drops of water to the suction cup and press firmly onto the window.

Tip

After applying glue to your snowflake, try sprinkling a bit of glitter over the glue before pressing it onto the wax paper or plastic storage bag to make your snowflake sparkle.
