How to Change a Genie Garage Door Code

Changing the code on your Genie garage door ensures your home security.

A Genie garage door allows you to set your keypad code so that it will operate the garage door openers. The code ensures that only you or other household members can use it to gain access to your home. Many people use the garage door as their main entryway, and it is vital that you change the code periodically for safety purposes or because someone might have accidentally revealed the code to a non-family member.

Instructions

1. Open your Genie garage door keypad.

2. Punch in the PIN (personal identification number) that you want to change.

3. Press the PROG (program) key. The indicator light will flash once per second.

4. Decide on your new PIN number and enter it.

5. Punch the PROG button again. The indicator light will blink twice if the PIN you changed was your PIN 1, or it will go out altogether if the PIN you changed was your PIN 2.

6. Close the cover of your keypad. You can now program it to your garage door opener.
