How to Clear Clogged Sinks
When the water in your sink is draining slowly, or not at all, it's probably because of a clog. Hair, soap scum, toothpaste and other debris can clog a sink drain and keep the water from flowing properly. Things You'll Need
- Baking soda
- Measuring cup or cup with spout
- Distilled white vinegar
- Drain stopper or rag
- Water
- Large pot

Pour ¾ cup of dry baking soda down the drain hole. Use a measuring cup or something with a spout to ensure the baking soda goes all the way into the drain hole.

Pour ½ cup of distilled white vinegar into the drain hole. Plug the drain hole promptly with a drain stopper or a rag to prevent the mixture from coming out of the drain. Allow the baking soda and vinegar to sit in the drain for at least 30 minutes.

Boil 1 gallon of water in a large pot.

Remove the drain plug or rag after at least 30 minutes. Pour the boiling water into the drain hole to flush out the clog.

Tips & Warnings
If the clog is severe, it may be necessary to repeat this process a few times.
