Instructions

    • 1

Pour ¾ cup of dry baking soda down the drain hole. Use a measuring cup or something with a spout to ensure the baking soda goes all the way into the drain hole.

    • 2

Pour ½ cup of distilled white vinegar into the drain hole. Plug the drain hole promptly with a drain stopper or a rag to prevent the mixture from coming out of the drain. Allow the baking soda and vinegar to sit in the drain for at least 30 minutes.

    • 3

Boil 1 gallon of water in a large pot.

    • 4

Remove the drain plug or rag after at least 30 minutes. Pour the boiling water into the drain hole to flush out the clog.

Tips & Warnings

  • If the clog is severe, it may be necessary to repeat this process a few times.
