There's nothing better than a good pecan pie. The sweet, sugary and smooth filing topped with the earthy crunch of pecans and held together with a buttery, flaky crust - it's the perfect end to a holiday meal.

You can find many ways to vary it (chocolate pecan pie, pie with roasted pecans or caramel pecan pie), but the very essence of a basic pecan pie is perfect as is.

One word: yum. Oh, here's some more: Makes one 9-inch pie. In my house, that means it serves 2, maybe 3 people. But you might manage to feed as many as 10.
