Each Web browser stores cookies in a different location.

Cookies are small text files that websites place on the hard drives of site visitors. The website can access the cookie and use it to identify you and the actions you have taken in previous visits to the website, for example, remembering your username. Different Web browsers store cookies in different locations on your hard drive, so to delete all cookie folders on your computer you will need to remove cookies individually for each browser.

      Delete Internet Explorer 8 cookies. Open the browser and click on the Safety menu on the command bar. Choose "Delete Browsing History" and click the check box next to "Cookies." Click the "Delete" button.

      Erase cookies created by Internet Explorer 7. With the browser closed, click on the "Start" button and choose "Run." Type "inetcpl.cpl" and press "Enter" to open the Internet Explorer options window. Click on the "General" tab and choose "Delete Browsing History" to open a new program window. Click on "Delete Cookies" in the new window and click "Yes" prompted to continue.

      Eliminate cookies created using Microsoft Firefox. Open the browser, click on the "Tools" menu and click on "Options" to open the program options window. Click on the "Privacy" tab and then click on the link to "Remove individual cookies." In the window that opens, click on "Remove All Cookies."

      Delete cookies from Google Chrome. Open the browser, click on the "Tools" menu and choose "Options" to open a program window. Click on the "Under the Bonnet" tab and click on "Clear browsing data" to open another window. Click on "Delete cookies and other site data" to eliminate all cookies accumulated using Google Chrome.

      Remove cookies created using the Opera Web browser. Open the browser, click on the Tools menu, and choose "Delete private data."
