How to Set Up My Powerpoint Shows

Rehearse your presentation beforehand.

A powerful PowerPoint presentation might be the difference between you getting future business from a client or not. When presenting, you want to come across as an expert. Setting up your show ahead of time frees you up to focus on presenting the material and not worry about the setup.

Things You'll Need

• PowerPoint 2007
• Laptop
• Projector screen
• VGA/RGB cable

Instructions

1. Hook your laptop to the LCD projector by connecting one end of the VGA cable to your laptop's "Display out." Connect the other end of the VGA cable to the VGA or "RGB in" port of the LCD projector.

2. Turn on the laptop first.

3. Turn on the LCD projector.

4. Open PowerPoint 2007 and select "Slide Show" from the toolbar. Choose "Set up show" then click "Presented by a speaker (full screen)," which is the option to choose for a presentation. "Browsed by an individual" runs the slide show and allows access to some PowerPoint commands while "Browsed at kiosk" is a self-running slide show for an unattended kiosk.

5. Hit the "Fn" key and the "F8" key at the same time.

6. Select the second monitor option and your presentation will appear on the screen and your laptop.

Tips & Warnings

• Turn your laptop on first before the LCD projector. Follow this order.
