How Do I Add Fiber to a Protein Shake?
Protein shakes can be a delicious and healthy way to add extra nutrients to your diet or replace a meal with a fast alternative. With high protein ingredients such as milk, yogurt or protein powder, you can whip up a quick treat to sip. Things You'll Need
- 1/2 cup cooked oatmeal
- 1 1/4 cup oat bran
- 1/3 cup high-fiber wheat bran cereal
- Fresh fruits and vegetables
- Blender

Measure and pour the cooked oatmeal to the protein shake in the blender and blend for 20 to 30 seconds on high. Adding this amount of cooked oatmeal adds 2 grams of soluble fiber to the protein shake.

Add the oat bran to the protein shake for a different form of fiber. Blend the shake ingredients for about 30 seconds on high. Adding oat bran to your shake adds 2 grams of soluble fiber.

Mix in 1/3 cup cereal to the ingredients in the blender and process the ingredients on high for 30 seconds. High fiber wheat bran cereal cereal adds 3 grams of soluble fiber to a protein shake.

Add fruit or vegetables to the protein shake to boost the fiber content. For example, a banana adds 1 gram of fiber, three prunes adds 1.5 grams of fiber and an orange adds 1.8 grams of fiber. A carrot adds 1.5 grams of fiber and a cup of celery adds almost 1 gram of fiber. Blend the ingredients on high for 30 to 45 seconds to mix.
