How to Imbue an Item in "Diablo 2"

As a reward for completing a quest in "Diablo II," you're given the opportunity to imbue an item with magical properties. You can imbue any item you possess, but its original statistics and abilities will be replaced with those of the new, rare item. Your imbued item will have one or two randomly selected magical attributes that affect the way it operates; for example, a "fiery" attribute will cause a weapon to deal additional damage in the form of fire. Each magical attribute has a minimum level requirement, with more powerful attributes available at higher levels.

Instructions

    • 1

Complete the first four quests in Act I of "Diablo II" and raise your character's level to at least 8.

    • 2

Talk to the blacksmith, Charsi, in the rogue encampment to receive the fifth quest, Tools of the Trade.

    • 3

Travel into the Black Marsh and locate the monastery.

    • 4

Defeat the monster called the Smith within the monastery's barracks and retrieve the Horadric Malus.

    • 5

Return to the rogue encampment and present the Horadric Malus to Charsi, who will offer to imbue an item for you.

    • 6

Give Charsi the item you'd like her to imbue with magical properties.

Tips & Warnings

  • You might want to raise your character's level to the 30s or 40s before deciding to imbue to increase your chances of gaining a more powerful item.

  • You can imbue an additional item by completing the Tools of the Trade quest again on a different difficulty level.

  • To get the most benefit from this reward, imbue an item that your character frequently uses, such as a staff for a sorceress.
