Homemade College Graduation Announcements
College graduation announcements let your friends and extended family members know about your upcoming graduation. Although they don't serve as invitations to the graduation ceremony, they do provide information about commencement. Rather than spending money on printed graduation announcements, you can create formal announcements on your computer. Choose a design that suits your tastes, and include relevant information about your college graduation.
Instructions

1
Open a new document in your word-processing program. Set the page size to 6 inches by 4 inches. This is a standard size for college graduation announcements.
-
2
Set a border for your college graduation announcement. A border adds a simple but decorative accent to your graduation announcement. You can choose a simple line, double lines or a more ornate border.

3
Type the introductory line at the top of your document. If the graduate is sending out the invitation, then the school can "announce" his graduation. For example, "The College of Business at the University of Kentucky announces the graduation of..." If the parents of the graduate send out the announcement, this line of the invitation can read, "Mr. and Mrs. Paul Anderson announce the graduation of their son, ..."
-
4
List the graduate's name and the degree conferred. Include a one-paragraph return so that a blank line separates this information from the first line of text.
-
5
Type the information about the graduation ceremony on the next line. Here, you can include the location, date and time of the graduation ceremony. Even though announcement recipients might not attend the graduation, they will appreciate knowing when it will take place.
-
6
Print your announcement on ivory card stock. Review your printed announcement for any typos or alignment errors. When complete, print enough copies of your homemade graduation announcements to send to your family and friends.
