Instructions

    • 1

Create cranberry wreaths. Take approximately 20 cranberries and thread them on floral wire. When the cranberries are completely threaded, cut the wire, and bend it into a circle shape. Twist the two ends together to secure them for a rustic Christmas decoration to adorn the tree.

Make pinecone ornaments. Using pinecones found in the backyard, spray the cones with a little white spray paint to resemble snow. Allow the paint to dry completely, and paint glittering glue on the pinecones. Roll them in a bowl of clear glass glitter and dry. Tie a ribbon around the top portion of each pinecone, and hang the natural snow glistened Christmas ornament on the tree.

Display a natural mantel decoration. Take bunches of live greenery and tie them together with floral wire. Working from left to right, wind the bunches around a 9-foot length of thick rope, making sure to overlap them. Lay the finished piece on the mantel and fill it in with green apples, white battery-operated candles and fresh white flowers for a magnificent living mantel display.

Prepare a popcorn garland. Thread cranberries and popcorn on a length of quilting thread. Use an embroidery needle to thread the items in an alternating order for maximum visual appeal. Finish the garlands by tying a knot at the ends. Drape several of the garlands around outside evergreen trees as a beautiful natural Christmas decoration that doubles as a bird treat.

    • 5

Dry oranges. Cut thin orange slices, and blot them dry with a paper towel. Arrange the slices on the baking rack of the oven, and bake them at 275 degrees for one hour. Reduce the temperature to 225 degrees, and bake an additional two hours. When done, allow them to cool, and glue a hanging ribbon on the back of each for a natural Christmas ornament.

    • 6

Spray walnuts. Lay walnuts in the shell on a sheet of newspaper, and spray them with gold paint. When they are dry, glue a gold ribbon loop on top, and hang them on the tree as a beautiful rustic Christmas decoration.

Tips & Warnings

  • Increase the size of the cranberry wreaths by using a longer length of floral wire and more berries to create larger wreaths to hang on doors and mirrors.

  • Secure the live greenery mantel garland with thumbtacks to prevent it from falling off the fireplace and creating a fire hazard.
