How to Decorate for a Circus Party

Your child will enjoy the bright colors at a circus party.

For the child who loves the circus, a circus party will be the event of a lifetime. Make your loved one feel as if he walked into the big top with some creative circus decorating ideas. Host an indoor and outdoor party and give your guests a festive carnival experience without spending a ton of money. Circus-style decorations will put party goers in a festive mood.

Instructions

Indoor Party

1. Hang red streamers from the ceiling to make a circus tent indoors. Turn off the ceiling fan and tape paper streamers to the light cover.

2. Arrange streamers so they cascade from the ceiling to a midpoint on the wall. Tape or pin the streamers to the wall.

3. Cover the walls with red, yellow and blue plastic tablecloths on the walls to make it appear as if the guests are inside a tent.

4. Inflate red, blue and yellow balloons with helium. Tie them to matching plastic string.

5. Arrange balloons in clumps of three or four and tie on the backs of chairs or use anchor weights to place anywhere you like.

6. Make circus style posters to hang around the party area. Encourage your child or a friend to help you draw pictures of animals and clowns. Write a message on the poster like "Welcome to the Big Top!"

7. Hang three plastic hula-hoops on a wall to make a three-ring design.

Outdoor Circus Party

1. Set up a white and red striped tent in your backyard if you plan to hold your party outdoors.

2. Fill a piñata with circus themed treats like packs of peanuts and animal novelty toys.

3. String a circus themed pinata outdoors from a tree or clothesline. A clown face or an animal filled circus train makes a nice pinata subject.

4. Use circus pennant strands to section off a play and food area in your yard. Set up a bike or wagon riding area for small children.

5. Set up a face-painting table and ask a friend to volunteer to face paint. Stack stuffed circus animals on the face-painting table for a fun decoration.
