Motor Runs Too Long or Too Frequently
-
1
Plug the refrigerator in and allow it to cool for 24 hours. The refrigerator will run longer during the first 24 hours in order to cool to the desired temperature. The refrigerator will also run longer after large amounts of food are placed inside.
-
2
Close the door and do not open it unless it is necessary. Avoid holding the door open for extended periods of time. Clean dirty door gaskets with a damp cloth so the door seals properly.
-
-
3
Check the temperature control. If the coldest temperature is selected, the refrigerator will run longer and more frequently to maintain the desired temperature.
Odors
-
4
Put foods in the refrigerator in sealed containers to prevent odors from escaping.
-
5
Remove shelving, bins and food. Mix 1 tbsp. of baking soda with 1 quart of water in a bowl. Dip a clean cloth in the solution and wipe the inside of the refrigerator. Dry with a clean towel. Wash bins and shelves with a mild dish detergent. Dry with a clean towel before replacing.
-
6
Place an open box of baking soda in the refrigerator and the freezer to absorb odors. Replace the boxes every three months.
Moisture
-
7
Wipe the exterior of the refrigerator with a dry cloth if moisture appears. This is normal during periods of high humidity.
-
8
Avoid holding the door open if moisture develops on its interior. Warm air enters the refrigerator and causes moisture to develop.
-
9
Use the end of a wooden spoon to remove ice cubes jammed in the chute if water runs on the kitchen floor or the bottom of the freezer.
