AOL Filing Cabinets offer a way to store and organize emails on your computer. You can move your emails from computer to computer by simply making a copy of the filing cabinet. If you have more than one filing cabinet on your computer, you can merge the files to organize your emails.

Instructions

      Close the AOL software if you had it open. Click the Windows "Start" button type "system" in the search box. Select "AOL System Information" from the programs listed.

      Click the "AOL Software" tab on the window that appears and click the "Open Data Folder" button. Double-click the "Organize" folder and right-click the user name that does not have an extension after it. Select "Copy."

      Right-click on an empty area on the Windows Desktop and select "Paste." Rename the file with your own username as "username.pfc".

      Open AOL, but do not sign in. Select "Open" from the AOL "File" menu at the top of the screen. Navigate to the "username.pfc" file on your Windows Desktop and click "Open."

      Select "Mail Saved on My PC (Filing Cabinet)" from the AOL "File" menu and click "Setup Folders" from the drop-down menu that appears. Select "Create Folder" and choose a new folder name.

      Drag the emails from your old PFC folder to the new folder you created to complete the merge.
