How to Make a LEGO Darth Vader

How to Make a LEGO Darth Vader thumbnail
LEGO kits and figurines come in a variety of styles and themes.

LEGO is a Danish company that made its name producing small, interlocking plastic blocks for children. Since its founding in the 1930s, the LEGO line of products has grown from simple building kits to themed products. One of LEGO's top selling kits is its "Star Wars" line, which was introduced in 2000. There are nearly a dozen varieties of Star Wars LEGO kits; some of them come with the parts to construct a Darth Vader figurine.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Buy a licensed Star Wars LEGO set from your local toy store. You can also buy one of these kits secondhand, but make sure all the pieces that came with the original set are still intact.

    • 2

Find the pieces necessary to build the Darth Vader figurine. These pieces may vary depending on the LEGO set you've purchased, but typically include a set of legs, a torso, a head, the Darth Vader helmet and a light saber.

    • 3

Connect the leg piece to the torso piece. There will be a pair knobs on the top of the leg piece that should be inserted into the empty cavity on the bottom of the torso piece.

    • 4

Slide the head piece on top of the torso piece. The torso piece will have a short rod at the top; the head piece will slide onto this rod.

    • 5

Place the signature Darth Vader hat on top of the figurine's head. You should feel a "click" when the hat snaps into the correct place.

    • 6

Place the light saber sword into one of the figurine's hands. It doesn't matter which hand the saber goes in; both hands can hold the saber. Again, you'll feel a "click" when the saber snaps into the correct position.

Tips & Warnings

  • LEGO pieces are typically small--the parts necessary to construct the Darth Vader figurine are about half an inch in length or less. They can be easily lost or misplaced, so it's wise to put them in a plastic bag for safe storage between use.

  • Small pieces may pose a choking hazard to young children. LEGO sets are not recommended for children under the age of three.
