Use a DSL's modem's local access IP address to access its configuration page.

All modems are equipped with a configuration page that, when accessed through an Internet browser, allows you to change custom settings on the modem, monitor your connection status, apply security options to your Internet connection, and the like. Therefore, knowing a good procedure for accessing your modem's configuration page is an important part of maintaining your home Internet connection. The following simple steps can be applied to any Verizon or other DSL provider's modem.

Instructions

Connect the Ethernet cable to the DSL modem by plugging one end of the cable into the DSL modem's Ethernet port, applying gentle pressure until you hear the cable make a clicking sound, just as if you were plugging in a telephone cord.

Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable into the computer's Ethernet port, again pushing the cable in until the connector makes a slight clicking sound.

    • 3

Access the modem's configuration page by typing the modem's local access IP address into an Internet browser and pressing "Enter." Every make and model of modem will have a different access IP; check the underside of the modem for a sticker displaying the access IP if you do not know it. You can also contact the manufacturer of the modem or Verizon technical support and have them inform you of the modem's access IP.
