How to Restore Chrome Rims
Chrome rims make any vehicle look great; however, no car looks its best when its chrome wheels are dirty or dingy. Restoring chrome rims is a fairly simple and inexpensive process that only requires a few basic cleansers. You may already have most of the materials needed for this project lying around your garage. If not, they can easily be purchased at any automotive supply store.

- Bucket
- 5 cups of all-purpose automobile cleaner
- 4 cups of warm water
- Sponge
- Soft toothbrush
- 2 lint-free cleaning cloths
- Chrome-polishing compound (any brand)
- Automotive spray wax (any brand)

Stir five cups of any universal automobile cleaner and four cups of warm water in a bucket. Soak a clean sponge in the mixture.

Saturate the entire wheel with the sponge and solution that was prepared in the previous step. Remove any excess dirt or debris, using the wet sponge.

Scrub the wheel, using the soft-bristled toothbrush--scrub using small, circular motions. Pay extra attention to any excessively dingy areas.

Rinse the wheel with clean water. Rinse immediately after washing, to prevent soap spots.

Dry the wheel, using a lint-free cleaning cloth. Dry right after the area has been rinsed, to prevent water spots or build-up.

Polish the wheel after drying it completely, by applying a small amount of chrome polishing compound onto a second lint-free cloth. Polish using smooth, circular motions. Add more compound until you achieve the desired shine.

Spray a very light coat of automotive wax on the wheel after polishing.

Wear rubber gloves during the process, to avoid drying of the skin.
