How to Validate Windows XP Genuine

Validating your copy of Windows XP will determine whether the product key you used to activate Windows is genuine or counterfeit. This service is useful if you suspect you have accidentally received a stolen or lost activation key or would like to access certain Microsoft support features. You can validate your copy of Windows using Microsoft's dedicated online facility. After that, you can access downloads from Microsoft Update and the Microsoft Download Center. You should allow 10 minutes to validate your copy of Windows XP.

Instructions

1. Open a new Internet Explorer window and go to the Genuine Microsoft Software website.

2. Click the blue "Validate Windows" button.

3. Wait as your copy of Windows XP is validated. The site will display the results of your validation. If your copy is genuine you can now access Microsoft Update and the Microsoft Download Center. If your copy is not genuine, you can find out how to proceed.
