How do I Make Tin Cans As Party Favors?
If you're having a party, you want the decorations to be memorable, the food to be fabulous and the festivities to get into high gear the moment the party starts. You also want the guests to take home a party favor that brings back memories of what a great time they had. Candle holders made from ordinary tin cans are appropriate for a beach-, tropical- or Mexican fiesta-themed party. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Tin cans
- Pliers
- Floral wire in lengths that are as tall as the can
- Wire cutters
- Table clamp
- Screwdriver
- Nail
- Electric drill
- Hammer
- Spray paint
- Votive candles

Remove the lid of the can but not the bottom. Check around the top where the lid has been removed for any rough edges and fold them inward with pliers.

Twist three wires together to form a handle.

Punch two holes into the tin by hammering a nail or screwdriver into opposite sides of the top of the can. Push the twisted wires through the two holes from the outside of the can to the inside. Using the pliers, crimp the wires at a right angle so they are facing up and won't slip out of the holes.

Punch holes in the sides of the can to form a design, such as flowers or a random pattern. Secure the can with a table clamp to hold it steady while you work. Additionally, you can use an electric drill with a metal bit to drill the holes.

Spray paint the cans in the theme colors of your party. Let the cans dry.

Place a votive candle inside the can.

Tips & Warnings
Make the candle holders in various sizes using 1-lb. coffee cans for large sizes, vegetable cans for medium sizes and single serving cans for tiny sizes.
