How Do I Remove Cat Urine Smell From Concrete Floors? thumbnail
Concrete can retain a cat urine smell.

Cats love to explore, and if you have a cat in your home, you probably have noticed that the cat can get into some pretty adventurous places, including concrete areas of your home such as garages, basements and stairs. One challenge of sharing your home with cats is that they don't always behave as you'd like. For example, if the litter box isn't kept clean, your cat may urinate elsewhere, including concrete surfaces. Because concrete is porous, it can retain the cat urine smell permanently if not correctly cleaned. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Soak up the urine using paper towels as quickly as possible. The faster you can get to the cat urine, the less time it has to soak into the concrete.

    • 2

Create a cleaning solution of equal parts hydrogen peroxide, liquid soap, and baking soda.

    • 3

Cover the entire concrete area that had urine on it with this cleaning solution, and allow it to soak into the concrete for at least an hour.

    • 4

Mop up the cleaning solution using a clean mop and water. Once the solution is removed, the concrete should no longer smell like cat urine.
