How do I Clean a Black Granite Composite Sink?

Black granite composite sinks add a touch of elegance to any home's kitchen or bathroom. Commonly made from acrylic and resin, these sinks resist heat, staining and scratching. While granite composite sinks are quite durable, some harsh alkaline chemicals such as ammonia can wear away the finish. Fine abrasive cleansers, dish detergent and diluted bleach are gentle on granite composite but can remove the toughest stains. Clean your granite composite sink regularly to prevent a buildup of stains or mineral scale and keep it looking new.

Things You'll Need

• Dish detergent
• Sponges or cloths
• Glass (optional)
• Bleach
• Spray bottle
• Fine powder cleanser
• Small bowl
• Spoon
• Towel

Instructions

1. Remove any items or dishes from the sink.

2. Rinse the sink with clean water. Dampen a sponge or cloth with water and apply 1 tsp. dish detergent to it.

3. Scrub the sink thoroughly with the soapy cloth or sponge. Concentrate cleaning on dirty areas and around the drain, where bacteria and stains tend to accumulate.

4. Rinse the sink with water. Use a sink sprayer or fill a glass with water to pour down the sides.

5. Inspect the sink for any remaining stains. To remove tough stains, fill a spray bottle with one part bleach and three parts water or make a paste of one part water and one part fine powder cleanser in a small bowl. Stir it with a spoon.

6. Apply the paste to the stains or spray them with the bleach solution. Lightly scrub the area with a clean, damp sponge.

7. Rinse the granite composite sink thoroughly with clean water and dry it with a towel.
