How Do I Remove Soap Scum From Porcelain Tile?

Soap scum leaves a filmy layer on porcelain tile, such as tile located inside your shower area. This film can be difficult to remove, especially if the soap scum has been left untreated on the tile for a long time. Abrasive cleaners and scrubbers may scratch or stain the porcelain tile. However, safe scrubbers and vinegar can remove soap scum from porcelain without damaging the tile.

Things You'll Need

• Bucket
• White vinegar
• Water
• Sponge/Soft-bristled scrubbing brush
• Cloths

Instructions

1. Mix 1 gallon of clean water with 1 cup of white vinegar in a bucket.

2. Soak a sponge or soft-bristled brush in the solution.

3. Scrub the porcelain tile with the saturated sponge or brush.

4. Repeat Steps 2 and 3 until the soap scum is no longer visible on the tile.

5. Saturate a clean sponge or brush with warm water.

6. Wipe the tile once more to rinse off the vinegar and residue.

7. Dry the tile by wiping it with a clean, soft cloth.
