How to Connect VGA to LCD TV

VGA (video graphics array) is a type of video connection common on computers and laptops and is for hooking up a monitor. This connection can also be used with an LCD television equipped with a VGA socket, or by using an adapter cable that transforms VGA into an S-video connection for the TV if it does not have a 15-hole VGA socket. The adapter cable is available at computer stores.

Things You'll Need

  • VGA cable
  • VGA to S-video adapter

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off the power to the LCD and the device connecting to it, such as a PC.

    • 2

Insert the plug on one end of the VGA cable into the socket on the output device, such as a computer's video port for a monitor.

    • 3

Plug the other end of the cable directly into an LCD equipped with a VGA socket, or connect the cable to the adapter plug.

    • 4

Connect the plug on the other end to the LCD's S-video jack. Use the jack labeled "In" or "Input."
