A VOB file is a DVD Video Object file and may be found in the VIDEO_TS folder on a DVD. VOB files may be extracted from the DVD and saved to a hard drive or thumb drive. Burning VOB files back onto a playable DVD movie simply requires a DVD burner and burning software. DVD burning software such as Nero or Roxio Easy Media Creator will perform this burning process and create a DVD from VOB files that will be playable in a home DVD player.

Step 1

Insert a blank DVD into the DVD recorder on the computer.

Step 2

Click the Windows "Start" button, and then select the DVD burning software installed on the computer.

Step 3

Select "Create DVD" from the New Compilation interface in the burning software.

Step 4

Select "DVD Video" as the type of DVD to create from the DVD menu.

Step 5

Select the"ISO 9660 (Standard ISO CD-ROM)" option as the Character Set in the DVD ISO preferences.

Step 6

Select the "Joliet" option in the ISO preferences.

Step 7

Select the "Allow more than 64 characters in Joliet name" option, if present.

Step 8

Click the "Label" tab and type a new name for the DVD into the Name input box.

Step 9

Click the button labeled "Open" or OK". The burn interface will open showing the hard drive file system on the left pane.

Step 10

Create two new folders in the right pane of the burning software to be burned to the DVD: "AUDIO_TS" and "VIDEO_TS".

Step 11

Drag the VOB file or files into the VIDEO_TS folder in the right pane. Leave the AUDIO_TS folder empty.

Step 12

Click the button labeled "Burn" to burn the DVD.

Step 13

Test the DVD in a home DVD player. If the video plays in the DVD player, the VOB burn has been successful.
