How to Repair a Transmission Cooler Line
Transmission cooler lines are usually located near the radiator under the car. These lines help in preventing the transmission fluid from becoming overheated during above-normal driving. High-speed vehicles are equipped with these cooler lines. When the transmission fluid becomes overheated it cannot cool down the internal parts of the transmission, which will cause the transmission to fail while it's in operation. A cooler line leak can also cause the transmission to slip in all forward and reverse gears.

1
Park vehicle on level ground, set the parking brake and place the wheel chocks behind and in front of the rear tires.

3
Locate the transmission cooler and it's lines. Place the drain pan under the transmission cooler line. Use the flat-head screw driver to loosen the clamp on each end of the line being repaired. Pull the line off by hand, pulling both ends from the transmission cooler.

4
Place the clamps on the new line and slide the new line onto both ends of the cooler. Tighten the clamps on both ends.
-
5
Raise the jack slightly and remove the jack stand. Lower the jack down and remove it from the vehicle. Start the engine and check the transmission fluid level. Add additional fluid if the dip stick indicates more is needed.
