Directions to Acid Wash Jeans
After making their debut in the 1980s, acid wash jeans have found their way onto the fashion scene more than once since then. The striking look of bleached pigmentation on top of the sturdy denim fabric strikes a cord with many people, and fashion designers are cashing in on it. If you want to have a pair of acid wash jeans, you can make them yourself with a pair of your favorite regular jeans and avoid paying the haute couture prices.

1
Run warm water over your jeans until they are soaked, and let the water drip out of them. You can wring the denim a few times to get rid of the remaining water.
-
2
Mix equal parts standard household bleach and water in a spray bottle. Use as much of both liquids as you will need to cover your jeans with the diluted solution.
-
-
3
Spread the jeans out on the ground outside so you don't ruin anything in your house, and spray both sides all over with the solution.
-
4
Scrub the bleach into the jeans fabric with a brush if you want a very intense washout effect. Let the jeans air dry for 10 minutes.
-
5
Rinse the bleach out of the jeans, and put them into a washing machine for a regular cleaning cycle. Do not put anything else into the wash because the other items will get bleach stains.
