How to Make a Hammer Paliden in Diablo 2
The Paladin in "Diablo 2" is primarily a melee class with aura abilities differentiating him from other fighters in the game. Because of the limited number of skill points characters receive, players need to focus on a specific set of skills to make an effective character. The Hammer Paladin, also known as the Hammerdin, focuses on maximizing the effectiveness of the Blessed Hammer skill. This is initially a weak ranged attack spell but can eventually become powerful from increasing the synergy skills and using the Concentration aura.

Click the icons for Smite, Might, and Prayer to use a skill point to increase each skill to Rank 1. These skills are all prerequisites for skills needed to create a Hammer Paladin.

Place one skill point into the Holy Bolt and Defiance skills after you reach Level 6. These are prerequisite skills.

Place one skill point into the Charge, Blessed Aim, and Cleansing skills after you reach Level 12. Charge and Cleansing are prerequisite skills. Blessed Aim is a synergy skill. Increasing the rank of Blessed Aim raises the damage of Blessed Hammer without increasing the cost to use it.

Place one skill point into the Blessed Hammer, Concentration, and Vigor skills after you reach Level 18. Blessed Hammer and Concentration are the primary two skills used by a Hammer Paladin. Vigor is a synergy skill for Blessed Hammer.

Place skill points into Blessed Hammer until it is Rank 5.

Tips & Warnings
"Diablo 2" gives characters more skill points than are required to increase the necessary Hammer Paladin skills to the maximum rank. Salvation and Holy Shield are both useful choices for other skills to increase for a Hammer Paladin.
Because of the lack of any other attack skills, the Hammer Paladin will become completely reliant on Blessed Hammer later in the game. Before unlocking Blessed Hammer, you will need to rely on normal weapon attacks to defeat foes.
