How to Boot the Recovery Partition on a Toshiba Satellite Laptop

Toshiba is an electronics company that produces a range of different products. Satellite is a line of laptops produced by Toshiba, all of which feature a recovery partition. A recovery partition is a section of the laptop reserved for formatting purposes--it allows you to erase your hard drive and replace it with the reserved partition.

Instructions

1. Insert the USB stick into a free USB port on the laptop.

2. Click "Start" and open "Computer."

3. Double-click the icon for your USB drive. This will be under the Devices With Removable Storage area.

4. Click and drag you personal files into the USB drive.

5. Remove the USB, click "Start" and select "Shut Down."

6. Start up your computer and instantly press and hold '0' to prompt options regarding your recovery partition.

7. Select "Recovery of Factory Default Software" and click "Next." This will replace your existing partition with the recovery partition.

8. Confirm the decision to begin the process. Once the process is finished, your computer will restart.

9. Wait for your computer to fully load, insert your USB stick and restore your personal files.
