How to Edit a Lenovo BIOS

Customize and edit your Lenovo system by using the settings in the Basic Input/Output System, or BIOS. Lenovo BIOS settings include your device boot order, BIOS passwords, interaction with Plug and Play devices, hard drive settings, power options, system date and time and other hardware options. Edit a Lenovo BIOS to choose how your hardware and operating system interact. Editing the BIOS is also a way to troubleshoot problems with your hardware and operating system.

Instructions

      Turn off your Lenovo system.

      Restart your Lenovo system.

      Enter your Lenovo BIOS. Depending on your Lenovo model, press the blue "Access IBM," blue "Think Advantage" or the "F1" function key during the boot process. See the first screen during the boot process for the correct key to enter the BIOS.

      Use your arrow keys to navigate between BIOS settings and menu screens.

      Press "Enter" to select and change settings.

      Follow the instructions on the BIOS screen to access sub-menus, save your settings and exit the BIOS.
