How to Organize a Christening

Christening Service.

The religious custom of christening a baby dates back to biblical days. In the Christian tradition, it differs from baptism in that the baby or young child is not sprinkled or submerged in water (though some traditions may use water during the ceremony). A minister prays over and blesses the baby or young child as well as their parents, grandparents and godparents. In some traditions, the baby may receive his or her Christian name. It is usually a short service and is often incorporated as part of a Sunday service.
