Throughout the winter months, hot chocolate is popular among those in need of a hot beverage. For a new spin on this old favorite, try making it with white chocolate syrup instead of chocolate. White chocolate is a confection comprised of sugar, cocoa butter and milk. Like the confection, white chocolate syrup is essentially a chocolate syrup without cocoa. The process of making white hot chocolate and most of the ingredients are the same as traditional hot chocolate, but, also without the cocoa element.

- Small to medium-size pot
- Milk product (dairy or non-dairy)
- White chocolate syrup
- 1/4 tsp. vanilla extract per cup of milk
- Whipped cream (optional)
- Sprinkles (optional)
- Chocolate shavings (optional)
- Marshmallows (optional)

Place 1 cup of milk per desired serving in a small or medium pot and cook over medium-high heat. Use any milk product you like. Milk and cream mixtures are common, but nondairy milk, such as rice or soy, will suffice.

Stir milk often to prevent burning and film buildup. When bubbles begin to appear around the edges of the pot, reduce heat to simmer.

Add vanilla extract, then white chocolate syrup to taste. Stir to combine.

Pour white hot chocolate mixture into individual cups.

Top with heaping tbsp. of whipped cream. Garnish with sprinkles, chocolate flakes or the garnish of your choice.
