How to Cut Rubber Mats
Cutting rubber mats requires precision, attention to detail and the right knife with a sharp blade. Cutting rubber can be tough, and if you use a dull knife, not only will you have a hard time cutting, the knife might more easily slip, and you could cut yourself. Put a fresh blade in your utility knife, and discord the old one. Start with a new blade that is sharp and won't cause you to struggle to score the rubber.

Place your straight edge metal yardstick on the rubber mat where you need to make your cut.

Draw a line with the chalk to mark where you need to make your cut.

Hold your straight edge firmly on the chalk line, and run your utility knife the length of the chalk three times to score the rubber mat.

Bend the rubber mat back toward you to break open the score line, and then run your knife along the line three to five more times to complete the cut.

Tips & Warnings
Never use an electric saw to cut rubber mats. The cut will come out jagged, and the blade could easily bind and jerk, causing serious injury.
