How do I Replace a Fuse for Christmas House Lights?
Christmas house lights come in a variety of styles and colors, as well as both indoor and outdoor varieties. Although they have wide variations in appearance, the basic functionally is the same for most Christmas light strings. If you have a strand of Christmas house lights that do not light up when you plug them in, the problem is most likely a blown fuse in the light. Replacing the fuse takes only a few minutes and basic tools. Does this Spark an idea?

Examine the cord of the Christmas house lights and look for a small, clear, plastic bag that is taped to it. These bags typically contain replacement fuses. If you do not see extra fuses on the lights, go to any home improvement store and purchase two replacement 3A Christmas light fuses. All Christmas light fuses are the same size, but you can take the old one with you if desired.

Pick up the pronged end of the Christmas light string and locate the small tab that is on one of the sides.

Place the tip of a knife blade into the groove just below the tab and push the blade towards the cord. As you do this, a small widow will slide open.

Set down the knife and turn the plug over to empty out the two fuses. Throw away the old fuses.

Insert the two new fuses into the compartment side by side.

Push the door on top of the plug closed with your finger. If you cannot get it to close all of the way, use the knife blade to finish closing it.

Plug the Christmas house lights into an electrical outlet to confirm they light up.
