How to Fix the Drop-Down Menu in Internet Explorer
You may have noticed that Internet Explorer 7 (IE 7) tends to crash when you click on a drop-down menu to make a selection. This problem occurs due to a bug that may have entered your computer via the Internet while downloading a freeware or a shareware, or through peer-to-peer software. This problem occurs randomly. It doesn't always occur when you click on drop-down menus. Good news is that there is more than one way to fix this problem.

Click the "Start" menu and select "All Programs." Click "Windows Update." Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installation of recent Internet Explorer updates. Reboot your computer.

Click on the "Start" menu and select "Run," if you still experience problems after updating your Internet Explorer. Type "regedit" and press the "Enter" key. This will launch your Registry Editor.

Navigate to the following registry path in the left pane: "HKEY_CURRENT_USER," "Software," "Microsoft," "Internet Explorer," "Main," "FeatureControl" and "FEATURE_USE_WINDOWEDSELECTCONTROL."

Click "Edit" and select "New." Choose "DWORD Value."

Enter without any quotes "Iexplore.exe" and hit "Enter" key.

Right click "Iexplore.exe" and select "Modify."

Type the number "1" under "Value" and hit "OK." Close down Windows Registry Editor. Reboot your computer to end task.
