Instructions

    • 1

Wash and condition hair with your desired shampoo and conditioner.

    • 2

Air dry or use a blow dryer to dry your hair.

    • 3

Plug in the CHI and turn it on. If your CHI hair straightener has temperature settings, choose your desired setting.

    • 4

Prep your hair by combing or brushing to detangle and smooth the hair shaft. Apply styling products such as holding spray or heat protectant.

    • 5

Section off your hair into two to four workable sections. This will keep the hair out of the way and make it easier for you to curl your hair.

    • 6

Take your first section and pull out about a 1-inch section of hair. Run your comb through this section once again to assure that the hair is tangle free.

    • 7

Take your CHI hair straightener and run it through from root to tip to straighten and smooth the section of hair. Complete this step once or twice, depending on your hair type and how straight you want your hair.

    • 8

Apply the CHI to hair again and slide down about 1/4 of the hair shaft and slightly turn your wrist while continue to go down the hair shaft. Think of a half moon. This will give volume and slight bump at the ends of your hair. Or...

    • 9

Hold the CHI parallel to your head. Take your one inch section and slowly feed the hair through the iron while turning your wrist for a spiral curl. With practice, you may be able to achieve the spiral look without holding the straightener parallel.

    • 10

Continue the bumping method or the spiral curling method until the entire head is curled.

    • 11

Comb, finger comb or tousle your hair into your desired look. Apply more hairspray or styling product as needed.

Tips & Warnings

  • 1. Be sure to adjust the temperature based on your hair needs. Thinner hair should use lower settings so as not to burn the hair.

  • 2. Try to limit how often you use heat styling tools so as not to damage your hair.
