How to Connect a BlackBerry to Wi-Fi

Wi-Fi network settings can be saved on a BlackBerry.

Newer BlackBerry models are capable of connecting to a Wi-Fi network. Using a wireless connection to access the Internet through a BlackBerry can help a user save money on data charges. A BlackBerry that connects to the Internet using a Wi-Fi connection does not use a mobile carrier's bandwidth. In addition, websites typically load faster over a wireless connection. Setting up a Wi-Fi connection on a BlackBerry can be easily accomplished in a few minutes.

Instructions

    • 1

Press the "Menu" key, then select "Manage Connections."

    • 2

Scroll down and select "Set Up Wi-Fi Network."

    • 3

Select "Scan For Networks," then select "Turn Wi-Fi On."

    • 4

Select a Wi-Fi network from the list of available connections.

    • 5

Enter the network's security type and network security key, if prompted. Click "Next" to save the Wi-Fi network settings. The BlackBerry should automatically connect to the network in the future.

Tips & Warnings

  • A Wi-Fi connection can be manually added by selecting "Manually Add Network" instead of "Scan for Networks."
