How to Make a Play List With a Notepad

Using Notepad to create a play list is something that anyone can do no matter what their level of computer or programming skills. So long as you have some audio or video files on your computer, you'll be able to create a play list on Notepad. Basically a play list is just a list of songs and when you are creating a play list on Notepad, you're creating a list of song files and their location in your computer.

      Click "Start/All Programs/Accessories/Notepad" to open Notepad on your computer.

      Browse your computer for the files that you want to add to the play list and right-click on the files and select "Properties."

      Copy the entire location for the file and then paste that information to the first line of the Notepad file. For example: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\My Music\Sample Music

      Add a backslash (\) to the end of the location followed by the name of the file and the type of file it is. For example: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\My Music\Sample Music\Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 (Scherzo).wma

      Press the "Enter" key on your keyboard and then add the location followed by the file name and the type of file for the next file you want to add to the play list. Repeat this step until you've added all the files you want to your play list.

      Click "File/Save" and then name the file followed by .m3u. For example: Sampleplaylist.m3u.

      Click "Save" to finish saving the play list you created on Notepad.

      Double-click on the Notepad play list file you created and then select a compatible program to open it with. For example: Windows Media Player (WMP) is compatible with mp3 files. WMP will open and play the play list for you.
