How to Make a Good Photo Slideshow
While there are many options online, both with websites and software downloads, that allow you to create a slideshow, you likely already have the program necessary on your computer to make a professional looking slideshow out of your photos. The type of program differs depending on whether you are using a PC or a Mac, but if you know how to use it, you can make a good photo slideshow that you can later burn to a DVD or upload online to share.

Make a Good Slideshow with Windows Movie Maker

Go to "Start" on your PC desktop, click "Programs" and open Movie Maker. Click "Import Media" to open a window that allows you to select files from your computer. Select the photos you want in your slideshow.

Drag and drop the photo thumbnails on your slideshow timeline to put them in the correct order. Click "Audio/Music" and select an MP3 file on your computer if you'd like to add it as a soundtrack to your slideshow. Click "Audio," then "Clip" to adjust and play with the volume and effects of the soundtrack.

Click "Text" and type a title and any other information you would like to appear in your slideshow. A title and credits will help your slideshow look more professional.

Click "Transitions" to browse through the special effects you can include when one photo is transferring to the next during your slideshow. Drag the transitions you like between the photo thumbnails on the timeline.

Click "File," "Save As" and type a name to save your slideshow under. Click "Save."
Make a Good Slideshow with Apple's iMovie

Click on the iMovie icon on the desktop of your Mac computer. Click on the iPhoto tab on the right side of the screen to browse your iPhoto library. Drag and drop all of the photos you want in your slideshow up to the window at the top of the iMovie screen and into the order you want.

Click the iTunes tab (next to the iPhoto tab) and browse your music library for a song to use as a soundtrack. Drag the song you want to the beginning of the slideshow timeline, right before your first photo thumbnail. Click the "Audio" tab beneath the timeline to adjust and play with the volume and effects of the soundtrack.

Click the "T" tab (next to the iTunes tab) to view the various templates for adding titles, captions and credits to your photos. Drag a template to the first photo thumbnail, then click on the blue box that appears over the thumbnail to add text. Repeat for each photo you would like to include text on.

Click the "Transitions" tab (next to the text tab) and hold your mouse over each one to view the special effect. Drag and drop the transitions you like in between the photo thumbnails on the timeline. Click "Share" and "Export" to export your file for burning or uploading online.
