How to Record a Flash Movie Stream
The flash video format, or .FLV, is a popular, highly compressed, video file that makes streaming easier than other, less compressed files. Video content websites, such as YouTube and Vimeo use the flash format to present their on-line videos. It is possible to download a video in the .FLV format. Recording a streaming flash video onto your computer can be done in a minimal amount of time, when using the right software program.

Go to the Cnet website and choose a Flash video download manager. Many are free. A few good, free ones are RealPlayer, YouTube Downloader, and Web Video Downloader (for Firefox). Click "Download Now". Click "Run". Click "Next". Accept the license agreement. Choose a destination location for the program and click "Next". Uncheck the boxes next to "Set Yahoo! As Default Search Engine" and YouTube Downloader Toolbar". Click "Next". Click "Install". Click "Finish".

Go to the website where the flash movie stream you want to record is. Click on the name of the movie. Click the "Play" arrow to play it. Highlight the URL address and copy it onto your cache by clicking "Ctrl and C". Close out of the website.

Open the .FLV download manager by clicking on the "Start" menu. Click "All Programs". Click on the name of the program. It opens.

Paste the saved URL onto the area that says "Paste" or "Add Files" by highlighting the area and clicking "Ctrl" and "V" at the same time. Choose a location to save the Flash video by clicking on the browser bar. Click on the file where you want it saved. Click "Download". The flash video gets recorded onto your computer.

Click the "Start" menu. Type the name of the file in the "Search Programs And Files" browser bar. Click on the flash video file. It opens and plays in your default media player.
