  • Large pot with a cover
  • Mixing bowl
  • Paring knife
  • Large spoon
  • 2 cups sifted enriched flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 4 tsp. baking powder
  • 2 tbsp. shortening
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 large can chicken stock

Instructions

      Sift together flour, salt and baking powder in a mixing bowl. Cut in shortening with a paring knife until only fine particles exist. Add milk until a thick drop batter is obtained.

      Place chicken stock into large pot. Pour chicken stock into pot and bring it to a boil.

      Drop mixture by tablespoons into heated chicken stock. Cover tightly and cook for 12 minutes. Do not lift lid during the cooking process.

      Test for doneness by inserting a toothpick when the dumplings look fluffy. If the toothpick comes out clean, the dumplings are done.
