Warm muffins for breakfast using an electric roaster oven.

Muffins fresh out of the oven are warm, soft and moist. Unfortunately, as much as you want to recreate the fresh quality of just-baked muffins, re-heating muffins often leaves them dry or chewy. By applying a butter glaze and preventing the escape of moisture, you can warm your muffins in a roaster oven so they come out tasting like they are from a brand new batch. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • Butter
  • Pastry brush
  • Aluminum foil
  • Teacups
  • Plate or basket

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the muffins from the freezer or refrigerator in time for them to come to room temperature. Reheating cold muffins will cook the outsides of the muffins at a rate that is inconsistent with the insides of the muffins, resulting in burnt edges and frozen centers.

    • 2

Preheat the roaster oven to 300 degrees F.

    • 3

Paint the muffin tops with melted butter using a pastry brush. Butter will imbue the muffins with moisture and give the muffin tops a golden tone.

    • 4

Tent the muffins in aluminum foil to prevent the release of moisture and keep the muffins from drying out.

    • 5

Place the muffins on the bottom of the roaster on top of upside down teacups. The teacups will elevate the muffins and prevent them from being in direct contact with the hot, interior surfaces of the roaster oven. Close the lid on the roaster. Heat muffins that are 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 inches in diameter for 12 to 15 minutes. Heat muffins that are 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 inches in diameter for 15 to 18 minutes. Heat muffins larger than 3 1/2 inches in diameter for 20 to 25 minutes.

    • 6

Remove the muffins. Keep the foil tent on and allow them to cool for 3 to 5 minutes. Place the muffins on a plate or in a basket and cover them with a cloth to hold in the heat.
