How to Link the Laptop & the Projector to Play a Movie
If you have a laptop with a DVD drive and a projector, you have everything you need to watch your large-screen movies in your home. In fact, you can turn any wall in your home into a screen much larger than even the largest LCD or Plasma screens. Playing a movie from your laptop onto a large-view screen generated by a projector is much easier than you might think and only takes a couple of minutes to set up.

Turn off your laptop computer. Place the projector in a suitable location facing a large format-projector screen or a light colored wall. Plug the projector power cord into an electrical outlet, but do not turn it on.

Connect one end of the VGA cable to the blue video port on the back of the laptop and secure the thumbscrews. Connect the other end of the VGA cable to the video input on the projector.

Power-on the projector first and then the laptop. Allow the laptop to boot into the operating system normally.

Find the small icon of a monitor or LCD screen on one the function keys. Press the "FN" key and the appropriate function key at the same time to toggle the display. Many laptops use the "Fn" and "F6" or "F7" keys to toggle the display, but you should refer to your laptop manual if you cannot find the correct key by looking for the icon.

Press the "Fn" and other function key until the computer screen is viewable through the projector. Adjust the focus of the projector's lens until the picture is clear and not distorted.

Launch your media player software and begin playing the DVD movie. The movie should be viewable on the screen or wall.

Tips & Warnings
Connect a set of external computer speakers when playing the movie through the projector so that everyone in the room can hear the dialogue and sound from the DVD.
