1
Check to make sure the air conditioner is plugged in and turned on and that the thermostat is set to a temperature low enough that it should turn on given the ambient temperature.
-
2
Look at your fuse box or circuit breaker box to find out if a fuse has blown or a circuit breaker has tripped. Replace the fuse or reset the circuit breaker. If the fuse blows again or the circuit breaker trips soon after, the unit could have a problem that requires a service call from a technician.

Check the mode selector, thermostat and room temperature if the air coming out of the unit is not cold enough. The mode selector needs to be in the cool position of the thermostat and you may adjust it to a cooler temperature. The unit is not designed to operate if the room temperature is lower than 70 degrees F.
-
4
Check the cooling coil behind the decorative front of the unit if the air conditioner is cooling but the room is too warm. If ice has formed, defrost the coil by setting the mode selector to the fan position and setting the thermostat to a warmer position. Check the air filter and clean if it is dirty.

5
Look to see if the window is vibrating and if the unit is making an unusual amount of noise. A vibrating window indicates improper installation. If you installed the unit yourself, go back to the directions and figure out what is wrong. If it was professionally installed, call the installer to come and fix it.
-
6
Tilt the air conditioner slightly toward the outside if you have water dripping inside the room when the air conditioner is operating or call the installer to fix the problem.
