How to Throw a Willy Wonka Themed Party

Create your very own Golden Ticket invitations. Purchase gold card stock from a stationary or print store. Word the invitation just like the real Golden Tickets with phrases such as, "Greetings to you, finder of this Golden Ticket!" Continue with the party details and at the bottom the words "Present this ticket to be admitted to the chocolate factory on the above date and time." Slip each invitation into a chocolate candy bar wrapper and hand deliver them to guests. When kids open the candy, their Golden Ticket will fall out.

Decorate the chocolate factory. Try to utilize a large space for the party if you can. If not, make the most of a smaller space with candy-themed decorations. Check your Christmas bin for any candy-themed decorations such as gumdrop garlands or peppermint sticks. Create large lollipops out of foam or posterboard and hang those on the walls. Colorful streamers and balloons are a must. Tape fun-sized candy bars to streamers and hang posters from the movie and make signs that say things such as "Oompa Loompas Only" and "Candy Room." Place a brightly colored tablecloth on the table and scatter jelly beans and other colorful candies all over the table. For an added treat, have Dad or the birthday child dress up as Willy Wonka himself.

Play candy-themed games. Host a bubble gum blowing contest to see who can blow the biggest or smallest bubbles with pink bubble gum. Fill a glass jar with gumdrops or jellybeans and have kids guess how many are in the jar. Whoever gets the closest will get to keep the jar of treats. Have a treasure hunt for the kids by hiding large wrapped jawbreaker candies and telling them that Mr. Slugworth has stolen Willy Wonka's secret new candy. Give a special sweet prize for whoever finds the most.

Treat everyone to delicious food and sweet drinks. Set up an ice cream sundae bar with several different flavors of ice cream, toppings such as fudge, caramel and strawberry syrup, and lots of candy toppings such as M & M's, rainbow sprinkles and gummy bears. Offer miniature cupcakes and a chocolate cake to remind kids of the chocolate river from the movie. Drinks can consist of fizzy flavored sodas you can call "Fizzy Lifting Drinks" made of rainbow sherbet and ginger ale.

Hand out treat bags after the party is over. Fill the bags with Wonka brand candy bars, licorice ropes, candy notepads and pencils and scented erasers.Throw in a pair of Willy Wonka glasses. Sticker and, temporary tattoos are also good options. If you want to go with less candy, stick to small toys instead.
