Microsoft Xbox 360 video game consoles are capable of playing a variety of video files from within the system's main menu, or "Dashboard." You can play DivX video files on the console from a USB device. Copying DivX files to a USB device, then playing them on the Xbox 360 will take about three minutes.

      Turn on your computer and insert the USB storage device into a free USB port. Locate the DivX video you want to watch on the Xbox 360; right-click it, then select "Send To" and "USB Device." The computer will copy the video file to the USB device.

      Wait for the copy process to finish, then remove the USB device. Plug it into a free USB port on the console; turn the Xbox 360 on. Wait for the Dashboard to load.

      Select "Movies" and "USB Storage Device" with the analog stick, then press "A" on the controller. Select the DivX movie file. Press "A" again, and the video will start playing on the Xbox 360.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make sure the USB device has enough free space for the DivX file.
