How to Play Leap Frog

How to Play Leap Frog thumbnail
Leap frog is a game for children that requires a lot of energy.

Leap frog is an enjoyable and exciting game for children over the age of three. Younger children may play the game simply for fun and to improve their hand-eye coordination. For older children, the game can become a competition with the addition of a starting and finish line. The game requires at least four and preferably an even number of participants and must be played on grass or another soft surface.

Instructions

    • 1

Split into two teams of equal number. This step is optional if you do not wish to create a competition.

    • 2

Draw or otherwise mark a starting line. If you will be racing, designate a finish line as well.

    • 3

Crouch as low as possible on the starting line if you are the first player. The other players should form a line behind the first player.

    • 4

Remain low while the second player places his hands on your back and jumps over. When the second player lands, he should crouch down in front of you as close to the ground as possible.

    • 5

Repeat this process with the third player and then any additional players. When all the players have gone, the first player goes again, creating a cycle. The game ends when a player reaches the finish line.

Tips & Warnings

  • Remain as low to the ground as possible in order to help other players "leapfrog" over you faster.

  • Never play leap frog on a hard surface. Doing so increases the chance of injuries.
