    Editing the Adobe Form Fields

    • 4

Click the "General" tab on the "Properties" dialog box. Enter or edit the name of the field and the tooltip. Edit any other common properties, as desired.

    • 5

Select the "Appearance" tab. Choose a border and fill color. Scroll to the "Text" section and select a font type, font size and text color. Choosing the Auto font size changes the font size to fit the text box as the user types.

Select the "Options" tab to edit the default values in the field. The options on this tab change depending on the type of field being edited.

    • 7

    • 8

Highlight the "Format" tab and click the "Select Format Category" drop-down box. This allows edits to numbers, percentages, dates, times and special options like ZIP codes, Social Security numbers and phone numbers. This tab is only available for the "Text" or "Combo Box" types of fields.

    • 9

Select the "Validate" tab and apply specific formatting options that limit the types of entries users can enter in a field, such as lower-case letters rather than upper- and lower-case letters. This tab is only available for the "Text" or "Combo Box" types of fields.

    • 10

Select the "Calculate" tab to define mathematical values in the desired field. This tab is only available for the "Text" or "Combo Box" types of fields.

Tips & Warnings

  • Selecting any field, clicking the right mouse button and choosing "Properties" from the Contextual menu also displays the "Properties" dialog box in Windows. Pressing the "Control" key and the mouse button simultaneously displays the Contextual menu and the "Properties" option.

  • The "Properties" dialog box that opens is determined by the type of field selected. For example, if you choose a "List" field, the "List Box Properties" dialog box opens. If you select a "Text" field, the "Text Field Properties" dialog box opens.
