How to Dry Your Nails

Prevent smudges and dry nails fast by using quick-dry products.

If you've ever smudged your fingernails or toenails just after you've painted them then you know how aggravating it can be. Manicure and pedicure lovers often enjoy the end result of painting their nails, but are often bothered by the extended time it takes for nails to dry. The good news is that you can shave minutes off the usual time you spend waiting for them to air dry.

Things You'll Need

• Quick-dry nail polish
• Quick-dry top coat
• Fan
• Hair dryer

Instructions

1. Purchase nail polish that is labeled, "Quick dry." Quick-dry nail polish is specially formulated to dry quicker than regular nail polish after application.

2. Use a minimal amount of paint to achieve color, and apply polish using thin strokes. If your application coat is too thick, your nails will take longer to dry.

3. Apply a clear top coat polish after painting your nails. Top coat polish hardens nails as it dries, helping to prevent smudges.

4. Hold your nails in front of a fan, or use a hair dryer (on lowest cool setting) for 30 to 60 seconds to speed up drying time.
